Lassi – a refreshing Ayurvedic drink

Lassi for the summer | Ayurvedic recipe | Ayurveda Parkschlösschen Health Blog

Lassi is an absolute favourite drink during the hot summer days, and a great alternative to smoothies and lemonade. In Ayurveda, beverages consisting of yoghurt and water are called lassi. It is drunk at the end of a meal or as a refreshment between meals.

Ingredients
200 g natural yoghurt, 3.5% fat, or a plant-based alternative
1 l lukewarm water
a pinch of freshly ground green cardamom
a pinch of ground vanilla
1-2 tbsp agave syrup
a dash of rose water, to taste

Preparation
Mix all ingredients together in a blender for 20 seconds – done. Lassi should not be served too cold. It is best served at room temperature or slightly warmer.

ATTENTION: If you like to mix your lassi with mango or other fruit, make sure to use plant-based yoghurt alternatives. The combination of dairy products and raw fruit can cause strong fermentation and putrefaction processes, which manifest themselves as flatulence and a feeling of fullness.
