Aloe Vera (Sanskrit: Kumari)

Translated, Kumari means “young girl”, which indicates the main effect of the plant, as according to Ayurveda it promotes menstruation and supports the cleansing process in the case of painful menstrual cramps.

The plant is used both internally and externally. As a leaf juice or gel, it helps with burns, abscesses and herpes and is also one of the few remedies available to us to relieve and stabilise the spleen.

In Ayurveda, aloe vera has blood-purifying properties and is a Rasayana, a so-called rejuvenating agent. The energising effect is cooling. Aloe vera regulates the sugar and fat metabolism, strengthens the digestive fire Agni and at the same time reduces the Pitta Dosha.

Ayurveda recommends:

As a general tonic, take 2 teaspoons of aloe vera extract with a pinch of turmeric three times a day. If you have a headache, simply massage the pure gel onto your forehead and temples.

The Ayurvedic herbal wine “Kumari” is also a guarantee for youth and beauty. Drink 20 ml of herbal wine diluted with 40-60 ml of water 2-3 times a day.

Aloe vera has a Pitta-reducing effect and balances Vata and Kapha.

Caution: Too high a dose of aloe vera can lead to gastrointestinal complaints. It is not recommended to take aloe vera during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

We recommend first consulting with an Ayurvedic practitioner before taking food supplements.
